Michigan Nutrition Network (MNN) - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-ED)
The goal of this program is to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for food stamps will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for American's and MyPyramid.
This program encourages partnerships and collaborative interventions between nutrition assistance programs and other related groups such as public health programs, health care providers, schools, faith-based groups, and/or other community organizations in prevention efforts targeted at overweight and obesity.
Projects funded through this program include:
- Surveys and nutrition education information
- Walking programs in Delta & Menominee Counties
- 6 week walking programs with nutrition information
- Cooking demonstrations
- Taste testing
