Family Planning Program promotes:
- Family well-being by allowing couples to time pregnancy when they are best able to care for children.
- Healthy pregnancy
- Keeping women healthy by finding health problems early through regular checkups and testing. Finding problems early helps protect a woman's ability to have children in the future.

Program History:
- Federal Program (Title X) was established in 1970 to ensure access to family planning and reproductive health services for low income, uninsured women and teens.
- Health Departments serve 35% of all Family Planning clinic clients.
- Title X-supported clinics have helped many women detect and obtain early treatment for a range of dangerous and even life threatening medical conditions.

- 19 million between 1995-1998
- Includes 1.4 million HIV tests
- Breast exams
- 54.4 million over the past 20 years
- Pap smears
- 57.3 million over the past 20 years
- Early detection of approximately 55,000 cases of invasive cervical cancer
- Every dollar spent for Family Planning Services saves $3 in medical costs for pregnancy-related care.
Eligibility and Payment:
- Services are provided to men and women of all ages, who are in need of pregnancy prevention services, regardless of income.
- Fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income. Teens seeking confidential services will be charged based on the income of the teen, not their parents.
- Services are not denied based on the individual's ability to pay. Donations from clients are accepted.
- Insurances accepted include Medicaid and Plan First.

Family Planning Services include:
- A full range of birth control information and supplies. Methods include: birth control pills, "patch", depo shot, the nuva ring, IUD's, condoms, natural family planning and emergency contraception.
- Pregnancy testing, counseling, and referrals
- Annual exams (check-ups)
- Screening for sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, breast and cervical cancer, and other health issues.
- Client education, counseling and referrals.
Local Impact:
Approximately 2,000 clients served per year
- 96% female/4% male
- 33% teens
- 77% qualify for free services
- Over 300 visits for emergency contraception
- Lower teen pregnancy rates
- Families are better able to care for children
- Early detection for serious health problems
- About 150 women per year are referred to physicians for abnormal results
