Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP)


BCCCP provides health screening services, breast and cervical cancer treatement for low income and uninsured women in Delta and Menominee Counties.

Benefits:

  • Early detection of cancer
  • Address other health problems (i.e. high blood pressure, smoking, osteoporosis)
  • Physician referral if needed

Eligiblity:

Free for Michigan women aged 40-64 meeting income guidlines.

Local Impact:

  • 1992-2005: 22 breast cancers and 16 cervical cancers diagnosed at Public Health
  • 2001-2004: 26 cervical cancers discovered and treated in women under age 40
  • 2005: 570 women screened in program
